The Health Ministry reported 3,519 new Covid-19 cases on Wednesday (Dec 22).

Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah tweeted that this brought the cumulative infections in the country to 2,728,203.

Dr Noor Hisham also said out of the 3,519 new cases, 100 were imported while the remaining 3,419 were local infections.

A total of 65 cases or 1.8% were classified as patients in Categories Three, Four and Five while the remaining 3,454 cases or 98.2% were in Categories One and Two.

A total of 331 cases were admitted into the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) while 187 patients required ventilatory assistance.

Meanwhile, the number of recoveries, which stood at 5,118 cases, outpaced the number of infections.

A total of 2,647,587, or 97% of cumulative recoveries have been recorded since the pandemic began.

Dr Noor Hisham also said there were two new clusters, bringing the total number of active clusters presently to 234, while the cumulative number of clusters since the pandemic began stood at 6,088.

Covid-19: New cases drop to 3,490, says Health DG

New Covid-19 cases on Sunday (Dec 12) dropped to 3,490 compared to 4,626 recorded on Saturday (Dec 11), bringing the cumulative total to 2,691,639 cases, says Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

He said from the total daily cases, 69 cases or two per cent were patients in categories three, four and five meanwhile 3,421 cases (98 per cent) were in categories one and two.

In a statement on the Covid-19 current situation on Sunday, Dr Noor Hisham said of the 3,490 cases, 3,476 were local transmissions and 14 were imported cases.

He said a total of 407 patients are being treated in intensive care units (ICU) while 216 cases require respiratory assistance.

Meanwhile, on the number of recoveries, Dr Noor Hisham said 5,399 cases were reported, taking the overall cases of recoveries from the virus to 2,601,908.

Apart from that, he said two new clusters were identified and there is a total of 243 active clusters in the country now.

Covid-19: New cases pass 5,000 mark for first time in four days

Malaysia recorded 5,020 new Covid-19 cases on Wednesday (Dec 8), says the Health Ministry.

Covid-19: 4,626 new cases, cumulative total now 2,476,268

Malaysia recorded another 4,626 Covid-19 cases, the Health Ministry said on Monday (Nov 1).

In a Twitter post, Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said cumulatively, the country had recorded 2,476,268 Covid-19 cases since the pandemic began.

Earlier, the Health Ministry had said through its CovidNow portal that 36 new Covid-19 fatalities were recorded on Sunday (Oct 31), bringing the cumulative death toll to 28,912.

Of the number, seven deaths were classified as “brought-in-dead”.

It added that as of Sunday, the number of active cases currently stands at 67,969, with 77.6% or 52,720 being patients with mild infections who are undergoing home quarantine.

Another 8,735 or 12.9% patients are those under isolation at low-risk quarantine centres (PKRC) while the number of those being hospitalised are 5,952 or 8.8%.

There are currently 236 patients in intensive care units (ICU) who do not require ventilator support, while another 326 are on ventilators.
